Chiefs, Pirates Eyeing Pricey Chippa Goalkeeper
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are among the clubs who are said to be interested in signing Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, who comes with a hefty price-tag.
According to reports, Chippa are not in a hurry to sell Nwabali. However, to maximise on the 28-year-old Nigerian international’s value, they are willing to sell him to any interested club for approximately R35 million.
Speaking to a local soccer publication on Thursday, 13 June, a source explained:
“There are two main teams interested in Stanley. It’s Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, but there are also teams from Europe and the Middle East, so the team is taking its time to agree to offers made because they want to make the best money out of this deal. That’s why they have the asking price at around R35 million.”
Amakhosi have been derided in the past for their notoriously weak defensive record. As for the Bucs, they are looking to bolster their squad after offloading several players in the past few weeks.
It will be interesting to see how this saga unfolds, and whether Chiefs, Pirates or an overseas club will be able to secure Nwabali’s services.
